Get out THE MAP - lets travel!!!

Rhino walking - 3.1 KMt Kenya - 2.1 K

Volunteers from Save the Rhino International climbed Mt Kenya in a heavy rubber rhino costume to bring the plight of Africa's rhinos to the world's attention. The expedition started on January 19th, 1997 in Nairobi, Kenya.

In 1994, Save the Rhino International climbed to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro with the rhino suit. You can also read about the original Kilimanjaro climb.

We posted each day's progress on the way to Mt Kenya following the team's adventures as they happened. Pertec sponsored the satellite telephone to link from Mt Kenya to WildNet Africa, from where we kept the world up to date on the climb at this site.
